Who are we?

The Veg School is founded by Mr Wong Kee Yew in 2011, in continuation of his long time effort to bring positive impact to fellow Singaporeans, through his faith in scientific and eco-friendly diet.

Supported by a dynamic and passionate management team and volunteers, The Veg School vows to touch the lives of many Singaporeans by bringing effective learning skills, fun and creativity into a systematic vegetarian education.

Ms Jennifer Koh

Jennifer KohA lacto-vegetarian by choice since age 10 and a vegan who mostly eats organic since 2010, I influenced my whole family into easing bit by bit into a veg diet after we all met our beloved meditation Master, Supreme Master Ching Hai ('Supreme Master' is used to remind every human that we all have the supreme master (the highest god) in each of us --- our physical bodies --- which are our physical temples of reconnecting with God) when she came to lecture in Singapore in March 1993.

When long-time VSS and ex-ExCo member, Wong Kee Yew (our TVS Director) decided to set up TVS and first introduced his ideas up on facebook in September 2010, I was very enthusiastic about it.  Having been an educator for many years, I feel the urgent need for people to change their "backward" thinking that vegetarians are weak and thin, and that only by eating meat can man be strong. Do you know that just by consuming 1 burger (with 1 pound of beef or chicken in it), you're wasting the equivalence of 100 litres of water that could be used to grow wheat or maize that could feed the hungry in Africa? You are also using up the same amount of water for bathing in a year!!

The 21st century yields so much scientific evidence that man does not need meat at all in order to be healthy. With TVS, I hope to spread the latest health news to all people, as well as hope that our monthly seminars @ The Central Library w.e.f. October 2011, will gather much response from our communities.

Mr Soh Jian Ru, Mark

Mark Soh Hi, my name is Mark, Soh jian ru. A vegetarian by birth and and more importantly, a vegetarian by Choice. There used to be a time when I wonder to myself if I should consider amending myself (amendment is only required when an there is an error), and be more "normal " more "friendly ".

That is to be ordinary, to do what most people do! Such as joining my friends in some fast food restaurants enjoying a really "Happy" meal. When I goes into a foodcourt, I could have 10 choices rather then sometimes having to makedo with kaya & butter toast or some fruits, and end up having to attain to the concerns of others at the same time.

I thought about this for many weeks trying to come up with some good reasons to convince myself, to legalise my desire. 1 day during my routine debate with Mark, the defendant decides to turn around the question and ask the plaintiff, "Why should you build your happiness and enjoyment of food, on the misery and suffering of animals?"

And until today, I'm still waiting, (but not searching) for an answer ... ...
